NHS Shared Business Services named as one of the UK’s Best Workplaces in Tech
- NHS Shared Business Services named as one of Great Place to Work’s Best Tech Workplaces for the first time
- Award follows period of strong organic growth and reflects moves to digitise back-office services
Leading NHS corporate services provider, NHS Shared Business Services (NHS SBS), has, for the first time, been named by Great Place to Work® as one of the UK’s best workplaces in tech.
The announcement today follows a significant period of organic growth, which has seen more than 300 jobs created and turnover topping £100 million.
NHS SBS is joined in the UK’s Best Workplaces in Tech™ large and super-large listing by its parent and sister companies, Sopra Steria Limited and Shared Services Connected Limited.
Now in its sixth year, this year’s Best Workplaces™ in Tech list is the largest the UK has ever recognised. It is based on what 100,000 employees working in UK organisations operating in the technology space anonymously have to say about their workplace experience.
Erika Bannerman, Managing Director of NHS SBS, said:
“Nowhere is the transformative power of technology more evident than in healthcare. Huge strides have been made in clinical tech, saving countless lives.
“Our vision is to bring that same transformation to NHS corporate services such as purchasing and payroll. We know that saving money saves lives, so by enabling the entire NHS to be digital-first, with all the efficiencies that brings, we’re making the lives of patients and staff better. Being named as one of the UK’s best workplaces in tech is a great acknowledgement of our progress in this area, and inspires us to go even further.”
About UK’s Best Workplaces in Tech™
Globally, Best Workplaces™ survey is the largest survey of workplace cultures and people practices. The methodology that creates its various Best Workplaces Lists is one of the most rigorous and highly sought after – and regarded as the ‘gold standard’ of employer awards.
Employees responded to over 60 survey questions describing the extent to which their organisation creates a Great Place to Work For All™. Eighty-five percent of the evaluation is based on what employees say about their experiences of trust and reaching their full human potential as part of their organisation, no matter who they are or what they do.
Great Place to Work® analysed these experiences relative to each organisation’s size, workforce makeup, and what’s typical relative to their industry peers. The remaining 15% is based on an assessment of all employees’ daily experiences of innovation, the company’s values, and the effectiveness of their leaders, to ensure a consistent employee experience across departments and seniority levels.
The following criteria must be met for consideration as a UK’s Best Workplace in Tech™:
Eligibility Criteria
✓ Minimum of 10 UK-based employees
✓ Industry specified on Culture Brief™ aligns to industry categories published
✓ Must be Certified™ and meet the minimum Trust Index™ threshold of 65%
