Providing valuable work experience, instilling confidence and empowering young adults
At NHS Shared Business Services, we pride ourselves on being more than just a workplace. We are dedicated to incorporating a healthy culture and making a real difference in our communities.
Through our partnership with DFN Project Search and Lighthouse Futures Trust, we are committed to fostering inclusivity and providing meaningful opportunities for young adults with learning disabilities and autism. Since October, we have hosted three interns at our Leeds office – Suriya, Ben and Amelia.
At the start of the month, we welcomed their families to the office to give them an insight into what we do as a company and share their achievements.
For many of our interns, this event represented a huge achievement – presenting for the very first time in front of a large audience. They delivered their presentations with confidence, providing details on what they have learnt from their internship since they started in October.
Suriya’s Mum Priya said, “We are so pleased and proud of Suriya. To hear that he is working at a 95% accuracy level and processing 90 batches a day is fantastic. We have heard about the team from Suriya but it is great to be able to come into the office, meet everyone in person and find out about the positive impact that he is having on the team.”
Amelia’s Dad Steve said, “Amelia is always so happy to come into work here and to be part of a lovely team. We have heard that she has directly saved NHS SBS a few thousand pounds since she started in September and she is very proud of this!”
Meet our interns
