A payroll service to shout about

PayrollTwo of London's most well-known NHS trusts - Moorfields Eye Hospital and South London and Maudsley - have praised the NHS SBS payroll and pensions service, describing the advantages their organisations have enjoyed since making the switch.

Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is a UK and global leader in ophthalmic excellence. Since partnering with NHS SBS, the hospital has benefitted from cost savings, improved service quality and enhanced technology.

Vince Lammas, Programme Lead at Moorfields, said:

"As well as a direct saving from the cost of the payroll operation before compared to what it is now, we have also been able to remove some of the administration challenges. The new technology has forced a certain level of discipline that we didn't have before. The new ways of working are less burdensome for the vast majority of those working at the Trust.

"With payroll there are always going to be operational challenges and instances where things could have been done better, but there is agreement across the organisation that we wouldn't go back to a pre-NHS SBS service."

Elsewhere, some 5,000 employees at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, who provide the widest range of NHS mental health services in the UK, are now being paid via NHS SBS. Having chosen NHS SBS to manage and future-proof its payroll, pensions and HR admin, the Trust's vital workforce functions are in better shape than ever.

Sally Dibben, Head of Human Resources at South London and Maudsley, explained:

"The idea of migrating 5,000 employees to a new system whilst ensuring they were kept in the loop at all times was overwhelming, but I was amazed at how seamless and smooth NHS SBS made the whole process.

"Overall, the NHS SBS service is better and more sophisticated than what we had in-house. I believe it's one of the best things we have done, with benefits for the Trust and for staff - a win-win situation.

"I have had other NHS trusts contact me about going through the same process and I have every confidence in recommending NHS SBS to them."
