Procurement frameworks saving £40 million for the NHS
Over the last three-years our 70 consolidated framework agreements have saved our clients over £40 million.
These frameworks, all fully compliant with UK and EU procurement legislation, enable NHS organisations and other public sector bodies, to buy goods and services in a way that saves time and money.
The frameworks cover a huge range of goods and services that organisations need to operate effectively. Everything from staff uniforms to orthopaedic implants, IT equipment to waste management solutions, are available quickly through carefully negotiated contracts, which achieve economies of scale cost savings without compromising on quality.
The ready-to-use contracts include national and SME suppliers, with many free-to-access, and mean that NHS providers - and others that use them - can be confident that a robust procurement process has already taken place and all tender specific requirements are met by the suppliers listed on a particular framework. This allows framework users to make direct purchases from a listed supplier or run mini-tenders as per their individual requirements.
The framework agreements last for a set number of years and when they expire, NHS SBS revaluates the supplier market and the latest requirements of the purchasing organisations, to ensure a suitable new framework is put in place.
One new framework agreement launching this month is 'Procedure Packs', which enables NHS hospitals to buy disposable medical products, that come in a single packed sterile tray format, for surgical and non-surgical procedures. The new agreement covers bespoke and standard products and includes packs for cardiology/radiology procedures and spinal anaesthesia.
Another, 'Modular Buildings', is the only national agreement of its type, covering offsite building solutions for purchase, hire and lease. Modular construction is a process whereby a building is constructed off-site, under controlled plant conditions, using the same materials and designed to the same codes and standards as conventionally built facilities, but in about half the time.
This brand new framework was developed to meet the growing need of NHS hospitals to quickly build or hire new wards and operating theatres, to deal with increased patient demand. It can also be used by NHS organisations and other public sector bodies to build facilities such as GP surgeries, office space, catering facilities and specialist units.
