Introduction from David Morris

Welcome to the Spring edition of our newsletter. This year has already been a busy one for us - and for all our NHS colleagues - as we begin to rise to the challenges set out in the NHS Long Term Plan.

David MorrisIf, like many other organisations, you're still grappling with the practical implications of the Plan, we can help. As part of our #HelloFuture initiative we are offering you a free insight consultation and report into the area of your choosing - this could be anything from planning the development of an Integrated Care System (ICS), through to embedding small, sustainable savings throughout your organisation. And if you are in the stages of planning an ICS, why not assess your ICS maturity via our online tool? More details are below.

At NHS Shared Business Services, it's important for us to work alongside our NHS partners to develop effective solutions to everyday challenges. One such challenge is undoubtedly staff turnover.  The launch of our new Exit Interview Service saw us working closely with Solent NHS Trust to design and pilot a new initiative, which not only provides genuine insight and understanding into the reasons employees leave, but also contributes to actions that support staff retention.

We've talked previously about our payroll and benefits app, MySBSPay. It's fantastic to hear how one in four employees at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust are now using the app, and how much time it's saving.

We're always looking at how we can achieve efficiencies and save the NHS both time and money, which is why our services and technology are tailored to help you.

It's in this spirit that I am proud to announce we have become Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership's procurement partner of choice to generate savings, and have launched a new online portal to make accessing our framework agreements (including buying guides and price lists) quicker than ever.

And Stephen Sutcliffe, our director of finance and accounting, has written his usual thought-provoking blog, challenging us to ask "When is a toothbrush not a toothbrush?"

We value your opinions, so if you have any questions or comments, we'd love to hear from you. Email SBS-W.corporatemarketing@nhs.net.

I hope that everyone has a great summer!

David Morris
