New procurement frameworks offer additional savings

Over the past six months, NHS SBS has launched seven new framework agreements, enabling clients to secure cost savings on a wider range of products and services than ever before.

The new frameworks offer typical savings of around 5 to 15 per cent, and include:

These frameworks are in addition to the 70 already offered, which provide quick and easy access to a wide range of corporate and medical products and services, alongside cost savings totalling £40 million to date.

All NHS SBS frameworks are fully compliant with UK and EU procurement legislation, thus avoiding the need for a further OJEU process. In addition, most of them are free to access and can be used by all NHS SBS associate members, including universities, local authorities and the emergency services, as well as NHS bodies.  Becoming an associate member is free of charge.

The frameworks cover a huge range of goods and services that organisations need to operate effectively. Everything from staff uniforms to orthopaedic implants, IT equipment to waste management solutions, is available quickly through carefully negotiated contracts, which achieve economies-of-scale cost savings without compromising on quality.

The ready-to-use contracts include national and SME suppliers who have already been through a robust procurement process.  This allows framework users to make direct purchases from a listed supplier or run mini-tenders if they wish to explore the possibility of driving additional savings or quality.

The framework agreements last for a set number of years and, when they expire, NHS SBS revaluates the supplier market and the latest requirements of the purchasing organisations, to ensure a suitable new framework is put in place.
