Capital Equipping Services

Did you know NHS SBS' Capital Equipping Service provides scalable project management support for the compliant sourcing, procurement, delivery and installation of all medical and non-medical furniture and equipment?

We support NHS refurbishments and new build projects, freeing resource within trusts to focus on key project elements such as the construction programme, patient moves and service reconfiguration.

We can also provide a tailored end-to-end service, managing projects from inception to completion, advising on initial budgets to delivery and installation logistics. Utilising NHS SBS framework agreements we offer savings on capital purchases against project budgets to deliver best price.

Our service includes organising equipment exhibitions, trials and running mini-competitions to leverage better value. We schedule the full delivery programme and manage the delivery process, liaising with suppliers to book delivery slots and agree access points to avoid congestions.

We have managed various sized projects including Private Finance Initiative (PFI) projects, Procure21+ and traditional build which cover complete new build hospitals to single ward refurbishments. Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust - The Hope Building

This project had a large equipment budget and required provision of equipment to 800 rooms with 14 different user groups to engage with. We procured a wide variety of medical equipment such as x-ray and computer tomography (CT) scanners, patient monitoring equipment, ultrasound, concourse and waiting room furniture, video conferencing and had it fully equipped within 20 days of handover. Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust - Theatre Complex

We were commissioned to undertake the full procurement of furniture and equipment, including an asset audit to review existing equipment. The procurement of medical equipment included an integrated laparoscopic camera stack system, scopes, a C-arm x-ray machine, operating tables, anaesthetic machines, patient monitoring technology and various surgical trolleys.

Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust - Alder Hey Heath Park

We supported the Trust procurement team with the equipping of this large high profile scheme, with particular involvement with the selection of furniture in patient, visiting and office areas.

Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust - The Harbour, Blackpool

This was our first significant mental health scheme and we guided the customer through the process of selecting furniture for challenging environments by visiting supplier showrooms and factories and carrying out a mini competition to evaluate the equipment. Not only did we deliver this project to timescale, we achieved a 20% saving on budgeted equipment costs.
