NHS SBS becomes GMHSCP's "procurement partner of choice"
An innovative Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in May will see Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership (GMHSCP) and NHS SBS working together to implement collaborative procurement initiatives and generate savings for the NHS.
Under the agreement, NHS SBS will provide dedicated members of staff to GMHSCP. They will be responsible for helping to analyse spend for the group, identifying savings and undertaking procurement processes. In return, GMHSCP have agreed to provide valuable stakeholder input into the management and development of NHS SBS's framework agreements. NHS SBS will work alongside other GMHSCP procurement partners, including NHS Supply Chain to ensure that the Trusts are gaining the best value from the procurement options available.
GMHSCP comprises 12 organisations in the Greater Manchester area, and this agreement is thought to be the first of its kind in the NHS.
Neil Hind, Procurement Lead (Corporate Services), Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership said: "We're very proud of the partnership working we have here in Manchester, and this MoU is another great example of how working together can produce benefits for all parties."
Beth Loudon, Head of Sourcing and Procurement at NHS SBS, added: "We are delighted to be working with the GMHSCP under this agreement. We've worked with most of these organisations for many years and this is a great opportunity for us all to share our resources, experience and category expertise effectively to achieve a new generation of collaborative procurement."
