Through our dedicated Sustainability and Social Value programme, we have reduced our carbon emissions by 60%, delivered more than 6,800 colleague volunteering hours in 2024 alone and supported over 70 charities and community organisations across the country.
The Government’s renewed emphasis on using procurement to create opportunities for young people, address skills gaps and deliver benefits in every community aligns closely with our own approach. As one of the NHS’s leading providers, through our procurement capabilities we help NHS organisations embed social value into purchasing decisions, encourage suppliers to create employment opportunities, support apprenticeships, strengthen local supply chains and deliver measurable community benefits alongside value for money. Our procurement teams currently support more than £18.1 billion of spend under management, facilitate £432 million in NHS savings and manage approximately £1 billion of annual spend through framework agreements, providing customers with both commercial value and wider social impact opportunities.
We are also investing in the next generation of public sector procurement professionals through initiatives such as the NHS Procurement Graduate Scheme, helping to develop future commercial leaders while strengthening skills across the health system.
