Recognition under the prestigious Constructing the Gold Standard Verification Scheme marks a significant milestone in the delivery of high-quality, sustainable and value-driven healthcare infrastructure across the UK.
Leading corporate services provider, NHS Shared Business Services (NHS SBS), has announced that its Construction and Estates framework agreements* have been awarded full verification under the prestigious Constructing the Gold Standard Verification Scheme, marking a significant milestone in the delivery of high-quality, sustainable and value-driven healthcare infrastructure across the UK.
The Gold Standard Verification Scheme, developed by Constructing Excellence in collaboration with King’s College London and supported by the UK government, is designed to improve public sector construction procurement by driving better value, reducing risk and supporting net zero outcomes.
Achieving verification confirms that NHS SBS frameworks align with the 24 recommendations set out in the independent Constructing the Gold Standard review, which promotes collaborative, transparent and outcomes-led approaches to procurement and delivery.
The Gold Standard is widely recognised as a benchmark for excellence in construction procurement, providing assurance to clients and suppliers that frameworks operate in line with best practice principles, including early supply chain engagement, improved safety, sustainability, and long-term value creation.
The verification scheme independently assesses framework providers to ensure their processes, contracts and governance demonstrate measurable compliance with these principles, offering a clear quality mark across more than 2,000 public sector frameworks currently in operation.
For NHS SBS, the award reflects its continued commitment to supporting NHS organisations and the wider public sector in designing, building and maintaining modern, efficient estates that enhance patient care and operational performance. The verification covers not only the current iterations of each agreement, but also future renewals, with the certification updated to reflect any changes in framework title when they go live.
Anjub Ali, Senior Construction and Infrastructure Category Lead at NHS Shared Business Services, said:
“Achieving Gold Standard verification for our Construction and Estates frameworks is a significant endorsement of the robust, collaborative and forward-looking approach we have taken to procurement.
“It demonstrates our commitment to delivering real value for the NHS and wider public sector – ensuring projects are not only cost-effective, but also safer, more sustainable and aligned with long-term strategic outcomes.
“We are incredibly proud to support our customers with framework agreements that reflect best practice and help drive innovation, supply chain collaboration and net zero ambitions across healthcare estates.”
