In November 2023, the NHS in England performed 3.79 million imaging tests, including 1.79 million X-rays, 0.91 million ultrasounds, 0.61 million CT scans, and 0.35 million MRIs. This figure has risen from January 2023, where the NHS in England performed 3.41 million imaging tests.

With the continued growth in the number of imaging tests required, and elective recovery at the forefront, it’s important for doctors to be able to diagnose patients quickly and efficiently.

Contrast media, also known as contrast agents, help the NHS by improving the quality of diagnostic images by distinguishing selected areas of the body from surrounding tissue, which helps doctors diagnose medical conditions and plan treatments.

To provide a broad scope for the NHS, our Contrast Media including Injectors and Associated Products Framework Agreement covers ionic iodine and non-ionic iodine for use in radiology, MRI, CT scans and x-rays.
