Over the last 10 years the number of sexual and reproductive health screenings and services has increased, and public awareness of sexually transmitted diseases (STIs) and contraception has grown, yet accessing services still remains a challenge for many.
To enable more people to access sexual health advice, testing, and treatment, our Online Sexual Health Services Framework Agreement covers STI testing and treatment services, contraceptive advice and prescribing, and HIV screening and preventative treatment. This supports the NHS and local authorities increasing the number of tests and removing barriers like travel and clinic waiting times. It improves access to reach more diverse populations, reduces stigma, and provides valuable data for service improvement. Increasing access to such services supports the NHS’ goals to move care into the community, migrate services from analogue to digital, and shift focus from treatment to prevention.

What are the benefits of using this framework agreement?
IMPROVES SERVICE PROVISION
Allows customers to move away from Level 3 face-to-face service provisions to an online service. This allows more patients to be seen as they don’t have to travel to a physical location with specific opening hours.
ALIGNS WITH THE 10-YEAR HEALTH PLAN
Aligns with the government’s 10-Year Health plan as the NHS aims to radically shift from hospital to community, analogue to digital and sickness to prevention.
SHIFTS CARE CLOSER TO HOME
Removes barriers to access such as stigma that patients may feel in face-to-face clinics, as well as geographical barriers.
VARIETY OF TESTS AVAILABLE
With a variety of tests available, users would be able to access these services without leaving their home.
DISCREET PACKAGING
Discreet packaging will be used for any deliveries of tests to protect the privacy of patients.
REDUCED PRESURE ON CLINICS
Online services handle a significant volume of testing and information provision, which allows in-person clinics to focus their resources on complex cases and those requiring face-to-face clinical care.
