Developments in AI can transform the NHS’ ability to prevent, diagnose, treat, and manage disease in order to support a shift towards better illness prevention, health and wellbeing. It enables rapid diagnosis via technology, which results in improved diagnosis and released resource, delivering better patient outcomes and supporting elective recovery.

Our Artificial Intelligence (AI), Imaging and Radiotherapy Equipment, Associated Products and Diagnostic Imaging Framework Agreement looks to capture methods and processes that can improve diagnostics, and assist and relieve workloads for a wide range of clinical staff. This includes the use of AI software to allow radiology to carry on out of hours without a radiologist being on site, increasing the volume of scans reported on and reducing the workload of radiologists, enabling patients to receive their results and treatment more quickly. It also covers full body scanning, with a focus on chest and head.

The framework agreement also covers diagnostic imaging for MRI scanners which can be used within healthcare, at coroners for non-invasive autopsies, and in the community within diagnostic trailers.
